We have decided to diversify the growth of Ivory Coast as a knowledge based economy by the creation of the Free Trade Zone for Biotechnology and Information Technology. In the era of globalization, this is a testimony of our willingness and determination to be a force in the world knowledge economies.

Our ambition is to make the free trade zone an attractive destination for local and multinational companies in search of new space and favorable investment opportunities. A special law for the creation of the VITIB Free Trade Zone has been approved unanimously by our National Parliament.

With this effort we would like to promote the start up ventures and Small and Medium Enterprises in Cote d’Ivoire and create a service class Ivorian population so as to have a durable and sustainable growth for Cote d’Ivoire and Africa. We are convinced that one of the ways to fight poverty and unemployment is to enable the educated middle class to participate in the economic development and democratic process of the country. One of the main objectives of VITIB is to create sustainable employment opportunities for Ivorians and Africans in general. In spite of the crises that we have faced in our country, Ivorians have stood the test of time and have revived the economy to a great extent.

Since the crises situation is Cote d’Ivoire has ended we are now poised to revive the economic growth of the country and create enable and safe environment for the safety of the people and the investments in the free trade zone by guarantying Government protection. VITIB has been created to create such an environment. I invite you to participate in this endevour of ours which is in the interest of Ivory Coast and Africa.
